Where to spend your money

In this article the author talks about deciding to forgo her acrylic nails at about $30/month and use the $30 in other ways, mostly to help others. A number of years ago my mom decided to do the same thing. I remember once she bought coats for her coworker's foster children because they didn't have them and the coworker was an hourly-wage worker and really couldn't afford it. She never told the coworker it was actually herself financing it. I don't remember the other things she did, but I love the idea. I'll have to stew on that one a bit and decide what I can do.
