Clever marketing

I sent for a free sample of Finish dishwasher detergen packs and this is how it came inside the package.
The dark gray is closed-cell foam, and the rest is just CUTE!

Proctor and Gamble sample program

Today I received a box in the mail.  I thought it would have a couple of samples and some coupons.
I remember filling out a request online a few weeks ago, telling them the samples and coupons I'd be interested in receiving.

Look what I got!
3 laundry products, toothpaste, and hair products, along with a booklet full of great coupons.

I'm not being paid to promote this program, but check out http://www.pgtryit.com/pgtry-it/home and register for the next time P&G has a giveaway.

What a dicotomy in my mailbox today!

A free sample from Target.

A credit card bill.

I think I'll open the sample first because I *know* what the bill is going to look like!

Why I got annoyed and how I got free groceries

See this?
You see one package, right?
And you see the price which is $2.59 and then a 50% discount, right?

Why, why, why, when I got home did my receipt say I had two of them at full price?

I immediately turned around and drove the mile back to the grocery store and had a chat with customer service. I (politely) told the CSR that most stores give you the item for free when the store makes a pricing error. She looked a little comtemplative, then said, "Okay."

So minus one for me: I had to drive back to the store. And plus one for me: I got free groceries.

A surprise in my mailbox!

A couple of weeks ago I clicked on a Facebook link for the Abuelita brand from Nestle and I thought I might have "won" a gift basket, but the way the website was set up, I wasn't sure.

Look what arrived today:
It wasn't exactly a basket, but I'm not complaining! Inside was

a bag of chocolate granules to make hot chocolate with my milk
a box of chocolate almond disks to melt in hot milk to make hot chocolate
a traditional Mexican spoon to stir the chocolate and milk as they melt together
a sliced pecan pound cake
a can of dulce de leche (condensed milk, I think)
a packet of decorated note cards
It was the nicest free gift I've received since the time in college I complained that Payday candy bars said they had a fudge center coated with peanuts and instead it was a caramel center. They wrote back and said caramel could be fudge too, it didn't have to be chocolate to be fudge (hmmm . . . okay), and sent me a large assortment of their company's candy bars. See? I still remember after all these years.

Delicious!

General Mills sent me a sample of Dulce de Leche Cheerios and it's delicious! I love caramel and this cereal tastes like caramel Cheerios. It's crunchy and pretty sweet, so if you are watching your sugar intake--beware!
