Elizabeth told me she wanted a side pony tail this morning. I hear they're in fashion--just like they were when I was a 4th grader in 1970!
And on a completely different note--if you are lucky like I am and have a tree groaning with grapefruit, take a look at this recipe. I didn't freeze the yogurt, although I'll try that next time. I added about a cup of ice cubes to freeze things up a little more than just the strawberries could, and threw in a packet of Splenda. Delicious!

Eclipse
Since there was a spectacular lunar eclipse visible in my part of the world last night, I asked dh to set the alarm on his cell phone to wake me up a little after midnight. He and I went out first to see if it was worth waking the children and it WAS! We got all three up and had them look at it. The younger two wanted to go back to bed so we kissed them and sent them on their way. The oldest wanted to stay up as we knew she would, so the three of us sat outside on the lawn chairs and watched the moon get darker and darker until all that was left was a little glowing hair on its head. Then even that was gone. The copper glow was something I never imagined seeing.

from this site
Being semi-old folks we didn't stay up the additional 72 minutes to see the moon start to uncover itself, but it was an event well worth an hour of sleep.
Oh, the younger two didn't even remember getting up!

Something I never thought I'd like
I like getting up early. I get up five days a week at about 4:30 am. I was always a bed slug, loving to luxuriate in bed until at least 7:30 if I could get away with it, but NO MORE!! I think it's because my house is really noisy. We have a lot of hard floors and my three little girls are very loud. They are always talking, laughing, shouting, and singing. It's just a noisy place to live. So the 4:30 to 6:30 hour is . . . quiet. So very quiet that I don't know why all mothers don't get up like this.
Of course the down side is I have to go to bed surprisingly early. If I want my eight hours of sleep I have to be snoozing by 8:30 pm. That doesn't usually happen, but it does more often than you'd imagine. When the girls go to bed, so do I. I read or watch TV, then go to sleep. Honestly, 4:30 isn't early if I go to bed on time.
So here I am with my cup of Twinings lemon herbal tea, chatting away with my unseen friends.
