A******* Family Tradition

I've written about this before, but I like it so much I'm going to write about it again now and then. We have waffles for Sunday dinner almost every week. Tonight's waffles were whole wheat and they were light brown, tasty, and delicious. I served them with maple syrup and chopped walnuts. They were outstanding.

  1. That is what we had for dinner yesterday, but we had crash of the cooking. The last time we had waffles the grids were very sticky. I was using a commercial mix and probably got some ingredient wrong. I even had a note on the iron to use more oil the next time. I made the batter from scratch and did add more oil. Too bad about that. I have never seen batter stick the way that did. Even after removing what would come off by scraping, it took three long soakings to get the grid clean. I am going to brush them with oil and then run a bake cycle. There will be one more try to cook on them. If they still won't yield up the waffle I am going to buy a new iron. By the way, that batter made outstanding pancakes for the rest of the meal.
